About Me

Not sure if you could find this interesting (it's a little bit long) but this how I started to work in Multimedia stuff.

Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico. Proud alumni from Centro De Ensenanza Tecnica Industrial (CETI) with a Bachelor in Computer Science.

While I was studing my bachelor (and thanks to my previous degree as Tecnólogo in Electronic and Communications), I started to teach classes related to Electronic and Digital Systems, IT , and Project Development.

As I wanted to provide some multimedia resources to my students, I started to learn Macromedia Director 4. And after a couple of months, I faced the "little problem" of not knowing how to create my own buttons, graphics or videos and I needed to put this idea in hold. In the meantime, I started to learn 3DStudio R4 for D.O.S. with a friend, and after few months, I was able to get a position as a 3D Instructor for a Post-Production company. Besides of working with a Betacam and watching something cool that was called the Video Cube, that was the first time I worked with a Macintosh, but not as a designer: They asked me to fix a problem with the company network before a meeting with a client) and it worked!!!

After 1 month, they offered a permanent half-time position in the multimedia department and we created few TV spots (flying logos) and I was excited to ask my family to watch few tv commercials with the cheesy animations that we did. :)

During this experience, the graphic team showed me Photoshop (version 3) and I was happy because now I could get back to my original idea of creating interactive content for my students (I was still teaching in the mornings). But after 4 months, I needed to focus into my Bachelor and I needed to quit to this great job, but it leaved in me the desire to learn more about this area.

Learned Photoshop, Premiere, PageMaker, Director and Dreamweaver by my own I was finally able to create interactive demos, video demonstrations for my classes. With other fellow instructor we were able to create the first 3D animations for the School, which were used as the official intros for some of the careers.

After few years, I was part of the team who was in charge of the first Academic Computer Network using Novell Netware (I don't remember the version) and Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. My function was to train other instructors in the use of the network and Internet Tools, and using my previous skills for Interactive content, we were able to create printed manuals, multimedia presentations and web pages with resources for the use of the new network system.

When Flash 4 was the new "tool" in the block, the school sent us to learn it in one of the most recognized training centers in the area: Digitrain (which after few days I learned that it was the first Adobe Training Center in Latinoamerica) . After finishing my training, they were looking for an Instructor to teach Macromedia Director. Applied for the position and it was accepted.

After 2 years I was in charge of the Macromedia training program. With my participation, and of course with the other great instructors we were one of the strongest training centers for both, Adobe and Macromedia applications in the state.

Thanks to this new developed skills, I was invited to be part of the first development team for On-Line training in CETI. We created multiple assets using Flash, Director, Dreamweaver, AfterEffects, Premiere, 3DSMax and used Moodle as our platform for our first set of academic material.

As my wife was invited to relocate to Boise working for HP, we decided to move here since 2006.

In the USA

Thanks to the support from John Wynn, I got my first job as Spanish Instructor at Berlitz Boise Offices. I had the great experience of teaching my native language (which I never tought i was going to do) and I really enjoyed it a lot.

During this time, I worked for Roamzone designing an interactive presentation for a confidential project. The project was one month long and until this day, I provide ocasional services as a consultor.

After this project was finished, I was able to get a position at The Terra Firm - marketing solutions for the Real Estate Market. It was a great experience, because my duties were diverse: Creating 3D Models and previsualizations, web design and interactive demos to promote the development of new communities, Video editing for product showcase, Illustrating maps and multiple assets for Relocation Guides. After 8 months, I was in charge of the Web Design Department.

Working with clients from different states and the development team based in Canada, I developed strongest communication skills, and learned how to use several tools for web conference and screen sharing.

After the hit that affected the Real Estate market and after several reductions of our team members, I was in charge of the 3D and Web Design areas.

Almost at the same time that I started at Terra Firm, I applied for a position as Adjunct Instructor for ITT-Tech (Boise Campus). Since then, and until today I have been teaching multiple classes like: Animation with 3DSMax, Web design with Flash and Dreamweaver, Interactive Design with Director, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Capstone Projects.

Today?

Working as a Freelancer providing web and multimedia solutions and teaching at ITT-Tech (Boise Campus).
